January Wrap Up.

Today is the last day of the month of January and I have to say that 2012 is off to a fantastic start! Rather than write a long post about how this term is going I will just list all of the awesome things that have happened to me in the first month of the year!

  • Finished my first half marathon
  • Celebrated my first year of having the princess Bella
  • Started a new school term where I am taking five general education classes
  • Hit 100 posts on the blog
  • Hit 5,000 views on the blog
  • Hosted my first giveaway
  • Went to Disneyland for the first time
This month was a really exciting one because it was a lot of fun stuff going on and quite a few firsts. 2012 seems like it will be a year of firsts for me so I'm excited to see what other kinds of firsts will happen this year!

First Half Marathon

I have completed the Disneyland Tinker Bell Half Marathon. I didn't get the time that I was looking for, but as the race started I found it more important to finish and not end up in the medical tent, and that is what I did.

I am now off to go play in the parks until they close with my DSLR and my medal.

Until next time,

Hello Los Angeles!

I have safely landed in Los Angeles. I had to sprint full speed to make it to my connecting flight which lead to a bit of a meltdown once I got on the plane but things are fine now.

Next up? Race expo!

Until next time,

Run hard, be strong and always think big!

Hello Phoenix!

I have landed safely in Phoenix connecting flight is cutting it close for take off due to a mechanical delay in Tucson. See you from Los Angeles!

Until next time,

Run hard, be strong and always think big!

Hello TSA!

I've safely made it through security relatively unharmed. They confiscated my peanut butter, I'll live but I'm quite sad about it. So hopefully Peanut Butter & Co makes their White Chocolate Wonderful in travel sizes soon! I'll be updating from my phone as I land in Phoenix then again as I land in Los Angeles. I'm hoping for very uneventful flights and to not have to go through security again in Phoenix.

The next time I see you all will be from hopefully sunny Los Angeles!

Until next time,

Run hard, be strong, and always think big!

KT Tape Pro Sample Giveaway!

To celebrate the milestone of hitting my 100th blog post. KT Tape has allowed me to give away FIFTEEN samples of their new Pro tape! There are quite a few ways to enter so your chances of winning are pretty good!

I will be checking the mandatory entry, and if you do not follow directions for that your entries will be deleted.

Note: The samples are black in color. Not bright pink or anything.

Product Review - KT Tape PRO - 100th Post!

Disclaimer: This review expresses my own experiences with the product as well as my own viewpoint on the product. The product was also purchased using my own funds.

As many of you may know, I love my KT Tape. I really love using it to keep my knees from getting angry at me, but I would always have an issue with it staying on for very long especially since I swim often. So when I heard about the new KT Tape PRO I was insanely excited to try it out, and I got the opportunity to test it at Rock'n'Roll Las Vegas which I spectated. I found KT Tape while perusing Sports Authority trying to find something to keep my knee from hurting when I first started running and ever since I've sworn by it.

The new KT Tape PRO is 100% synthetic, includes a reflective pattern and has an incredibly strong adhesive. I was taped with it at the Rock'n'Roll Las Vegas expo and got to test it out that weekend, and over the course of the week after the race. I was having issues with my knee being angry at me yet again, and the relief I felt as soon as the new tape was on was incredible. I could already tell that this was going to hold up to my beatings and abuse. I bought two rolls at the expo, pink and green of course, to use once my supply of Original tape ran out. Not only could I tell that this tape was going to hold on a lot better, the new style (I strips only) would mean no more curling ends! At first I thought this new style would mean needing to use more tape for the same applications, however I was very wrong. Two strips and my knee was good as new!

The reflectivity of the new tape really impressed me and the design is quite nice, however I personally would love to see the honeycomb design in my two favorite colors, you know bees, they make honeycombs, which of course means that I should be sporting that pattern. Over the course of the weekend of Rock'n'Roll Las Vegas, I took many showers including a 45 minute hot shower to warm up after race spectating, and changed outfits quite a few times, and so far the tape was holding incredibly well. My experience with the original tape would be that it would hold for a day or two, but I didn't expect what was coming with how long the new PRO would last. This new application for my knee was also a bit more cosmetically appealing than the application that I would use for my knees with the Original tape, I also felt that it was more supportive than the old application.

Since I bought two rolls of the tape at the expo, I'll show you the unboxing process.

Love the new box design!

When you first open it up...

You get your roll of tape in a really cool container!

You even get a KT Tape sticker!

You also get the fancy new instruction sheet!

Everything you get in the box.

The case you get is really nice.

It keeps your tape from unrolling in your gym bag!

Fresh new roll of tape!

What you'll get in a box. Not including the green roll.
During my product testing period I took a lot of showers, swam a few days, ran a few more days, and my knee felt completely supported throughout the whole week. I was actually surprised at how long the adhesive was holding for, but after about a week and some concern from a few people that it was unsanitary to have the tape on that long I removed it. Honestly I think the adhesive could have held for quite a few more days because when I took the tape off my leg was quite red.

Proof that this stuff STICKS.
My overall experience with the new KT Tape PRO was incredible, and it's an item that I can't go without even on a daily basis. I have samples everywhere just in case my knees decide to act up. I asked KT Tape if I could give away some samples of the new Pro and they agreed to let me giveaway FIFTEEN samples. So head on over to the giveaways page and enter!

Branding - Envelopes

So last night I tweeted about working with my graphic designer again and we were able to start and finish the envelopes as part of a stationary kit so I thought I would show you guys what those look like. I would like to note that the addresses are both fake just to show how it would look with real addresses on it. Let me know what you guys think of this too! Also, I will be placing the monkey graphic as a watermark on everything both past and present from now on, so I hope you guys like that logo!

Is It Nap Time?

Cat in stroller from the bus yesterday.
Today marks nearly the end of my first week of classes, and I think it'll take me another week to settle into my schedule with is good because I don't have any really intense workouts going on with Tinker Bell so close. My tentative travel plans got a bit messed up with the return of this attendance policy so I have to rework things a bit. I know that school should be my top priority and I've been having a lot of people tell me that over the past few days so please don't continue to remind me. While school is my top priority I would also like to accomplish some things while I am finishing school. I also feel that fitness has helped my education improve because I am better able absorb the information that I am given.

This term I am taking five general education classes which are, Composition I, History of Architecture and Interior Design, Philosophy, Western Art - Renaissance to 21st Century, and Astronomy. My classes run so that I have class, a two hour break, class, then a four hour break then class again on Monday's and Wednesday's, and then on Tuesdays and Thursdays I have class in the morning and then a seven and a half hour break before my other class that day. So I think naps at school might be a normal thing.

I also now really have to work on bringing food to school since I'm here pretty much all day. Yes I could go home since I have seven and a half hours in between my classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays but I think I've created a plan. Tuesdays I will work on homework from Monday so that I will be ready for Wednesday and on Wednesdays I will work on homework for Thursdays and Thursdays well, I will do whatever I see fit, even if that means getting ahead.

I'm excited to see how this semester goes because I have a feeling that it will be a good one. I'm interested in all my classes even if I think that Philosophy at 10am isn't the best idea, I'll barrel through it.

Until next time,

First Day Of School 2012! Updated!

Here's a quick vlog before I head off to school! I'll check in later and give details on how things went!

I've went to school, added two classes so I'm back up to five. I'm now taking all general education classes this term so I'm only in one building which is fine.

The school has enacted some new policies which are as follows:

  • 3 absences and you're automatically dropped from the class
  • 3 instances of showing up 10 minutes or more late to a class counts as an absence
  • no missed deadlines, all assignments due at the beginning of class
A few of us are a little upset to say the least.

Back To The Grind.

Tomorrow marks the first day of classes in officially a month, which is a nice length for a break, however it also gives you enough time where you think you don't have to get ready just yet and then BAM they sneak up on you.

This break was exactly like that. I got completely comfortable in my routine and then tomorrow classes start. I managed to forget to get a new 2012 planner, whoops so I'll have to use something else until I can get my hands on one. The best part is that the whole school's online system for checking grades and checking your schedule is down, and has been down for the past two weeks, which is fantastic since I have no idea where I'm going for my class times tomorrow. I wrote down what my classes were when I signed up for them so unless they changed the times for all my classes I at least know when they are supposed to happen.

I'm going into school early tomorrow with a classmate of mine to try and solve the whole schedule issue, and hopefully get a planner before classes even start, but I'm not going to hold my breath on that one because I'm very picky about my planners.

I talked to my graphic designer who finished up the logo and is almost done with everything else so hopefully I get to post all of that this week!

I'm off to catch some zzzz's before an early wake up text.

Until next time,

Frustrations x4.

Over the past few days I've been trying to figure out what's going on with what was supposed to be a Christmas present for me, but the order was placed after Christmas. I was really excited when I got the email about the order being placed because it was a surprise to me.

A friend ordered me a green Fizz SodaStream on a killer deal, but I've had nothing but problems trying to figure out why I don't have it. The item ships directly from the vendor, which is where issue #1 arrived. They were supposedly doing inventory review until January 16th and not shipping anything out. Awesome.

I reach out to Bed Bath and Beyond, which is where it was ordered from, and asked them what was up and why I hadn't gotten any information since the original order placement email, they investigate and magically I get a shipment confirmation email that night. Sweet! Until I tracked the order. The order was being sent back to the vendor because of some sort of issue that turned out to be they didn't send proper paperwork with the shipment. Awesome. I still have a hard time figuring this part out. How does a company who ships out a product that includes a CO2 canister send out a shipment that has improper paperwork?

I then reached out to the vendor to find out what was going on and I have spoken with them multiple times and still have absolutely no clue as to what is going on with my order, which is really disappointing. I'm really hoping that this product is worth all of this issue because right now I'm not very pleased at how the vendor is handling the issue. Bed Bath and Beyond has been nothing but helpful in trying to solve the issue and was nice enough to issue me a gift card for putting up with all of this but I'm very frustrated with how the vendor itself is dealing with the issue since most of this is in their hands anyways.

Also, does anyone that has gmail know why I keep getting asked to confirm my alternate email like six times in ten minutes? Can we say annoying?

I leave you with this which instantly made me feel better after I saw it on another blogger's post. It's completely hilarious and watch it all the way through, it's totally worth it.

Amateur Bike Porn and Reason #4444444 I Love....

So yesterday I went to TriSports and test rode bikes, and I can't lie, it was amazing. I tried out both the Cervelo RS and the P2 since there is a wicked deal going on with Cervelo's through the end of the month. So I'll share my amateur bike porn before continuing.
Cervelo RS
Cervelo P2
Such beauties.
Today I got a hold of KT Tape asking them if I could give away some samples of their new PRO tape along with my review that comes out in a few days and they agreed, so I will get to do my very first giveaway at the same time which is super exciting. That's also one of the many reasons that I absolutely love them and their product! They are amazing to their customers, and their product is pure magic.

I'd also like to note that since I cleaned my room my bed has been made every day and Bella seems to be loving it.

Until next time,

My Very First Medal and Day of Blehhhh.

Today when I checked the mail I got a really nice surprise, my Lousy Medal 5k medal had arrived! Which meant I got to put it on my medal rack, and this event of course called for a bunch of pictures showing off the mostly empty rack.

I know it's big! Should hold about 90 medals.

My inspiration to keep working hard.

Bars are just really long drawer pulls from the hardware store.
It hangs on a cleat that is bolted securely to the wall with dry wall anchors.
To hang the medal, unscrew the pull and slide it on, then screw the pull back on.
I spaced the bars this distance so that the medals hang over top the ribbons from the next row.
I'm excited to get to put another medal on this rack at the end of the month and can't wait to fill it, but I hope that doesn't happen to fast since I don't know where else I would put my medals haha.

Today was kind of a bleh day for me, and yesterday's appointment with the vet is still weighing heavy on me, I know that I should get it done, but I still worry about it. Her dew claws give her some uniqueness and a portion of the white socks on her feet go up that far and I don't want her to be normal. I like having a dog that surprises everyone. I guess today just wasn't an amazing day for me, and every once in a while we all have kinda bleh days, so today must have been one of them.

My 100th post is coming in a few days and I'll be posting a KT Tape review which will cover both the original and the new pro, so I will be comparing/contrasting them as well.

Until next time,

Fun at the Vet, and Updates.

So today Bella got to have a really good time at the vet, getting three of her shots updating including her rabies, which is now good for three years, woohoo! The vet talked once again about removing her dew claws, but in a more serious manner because she's been chewing on the back ones recently, so he thinks they're bothering her a lot. I'm hesitant to get it done purely for the fact that I don't want them to have to use anesthesia on my dog. ): Part of me knows that it's not going to be a big deal and I should just have it done, but the other part of me doesn't want to do it at all. If I end up doing the surgery I'm going to do it when I'm on spring break and can stay with her, and get her teeth cleaned and other such things done all at once. It may seem like something small and silly to some people, but she's my baby so it's a big deal to me.

After heading to the vet I went around town to run some errands then I came home and hung out for a while before heading down to school to meet up with the graphic designer who let me know that the logo design should be finished this week and that the blog, stationary and business card designs should be finished by the end of the month for me to be able to post which has me really excited. I helped him work on posting his portfolio online, which we made progress on but we still have some work to do. I'm going to be doing two posts a day a few times this month but I'm not sure when right now so you'll probably just notice those every once in a while. :)

Third day in a row that my bed has been made.

Moving, moving, moving, and my favorite chair.

Today was actually a quite eventful day for me. I left the house at eleven this morning and didn't get home until about nine tonight, which is very rare unless I'm going to school.

Seen near my Grandma's house. It was pretty neat.
My roommates friend spent the night at the apartment last night after traveling all day yesterday, and needed to move her stuff out of her old place into a storage unit because she is moving to LA for the summer. We got up around the same time this morning and she asked me if I wanted to come with her, and since I wanted to get out of the house for the day I went with her. Our first task of the day was stopping to get gas for her car and then coffee since she had traveled for about fourteen hours the day before and was tired. Then we headed off to go find the storage place that she was renting from which was a task in itself since we only knew the name of the place and it was a lot further away than we thought. After doing all of the business to rent the storage locker we headed to her old place where she realized she had to move more stuff to the storage unit than she previously thought, so with some quick thinking, and dialing we went and picked up my friend's truck.

Luna and Clif Kid Z Bar both in S'mores.
Vega packets on top.
We were able to load everything that needed to go into the storage unit into her car and the truck which made the task of moving everything much simpler since we only needed to make on trip. As per usual the unload of everything took less time with the use of dollies and not needing to use our brains much! I do have to say we pretty expertly packed the two vehicles though, and unfortunately I did not take a picture like I should have. Then we split off and she headed to the airport to pick up my roommate, and I headed across town to pick up a friend, then went down to my grandma's to get a very special recliner. After picking up the recliner we headed up to my place and dropped it off before I dropped my friend off for dinner with their family. I decided that I should get some groceries so on my way home from dropping them off I stopped at Sprout's and picked up a few things, and on my way home from Sprout's I stopped at Whole Foods to pick up some single serving Vega packets to try out since Sprout's didn't have them. I also scored because Sprout's was having a pretty decent sale on Clif products so I stocked up on the two that I eat most, and oddly enough (or not) they're both the same flavor, just different products.

My grandpa's recliner. <3
I'm really excited to try out the Vega stuff because I've heard good things about it, so I may end up reviewing it because I picked up their regular line rather than the sport line. I've still got my reviews in the works and hope to post one of those in a few days. Bella gets to go into the vet tomorrow to get an updated rabies shot, which I find ironic because on Christmas Day a friend of mine was coming over to let her out and she nipped them, she didn't draw any blood and only did it because they startled her. I promise you all that Bella is very well behaved, she just doesn't always like people coming into her home. This week will be my last week before I have to go back to school, which means I have a whole week to relax before things get busy again. I actually managed to finish cleaning the apartment which is an incredible feeling, I do still have one rather large load of laundry to finish before I'm done with my room, but the rest of the apartment is clean.

Until next time,

Missing....Yeah Right.

Sorry that I haven't been around, things have been kind of crazy around here getting ready for my roommate to get back, but I did another vlog for you guys.

I also have some pictures of the cleaning progress. It will all be done by tomorrow, but I don't have very much left at this point.

I don't think I've seen my closet this nice since the last time I cleaned my room.

Desk area that I was talking about.

Mess that I still have to clean up, lots of random stuff.

Pile of laundry still needing to be done. That pillow case to the left is actually folded??

Waiting....and Waiting and Waiting.

Today's Workout:

3 rounds
50 pushups
50 situps
50 squats
Run - 2 mile

Time to complete: 1:30

So today I get to wait around for the dishwasher to get fixed so it doesn't look like this anymore. Yeah super gross I know, but I was stupid and made the mistake of putting all my carrot peels in the garbage disposal, whoops. They came and unclogged the sink, but I didn't even think to check the dishwasher to see if that got backed up. Obviously it did and I didn't find out until this weekend, which was awesome because the office was closed yesterday, so I hope they come fix it today because I hate waiting around for maintenance. If you're wondering why I have to wait for maintenance, it's because Bella freaks out when people are in the apartment and she's locked in my room, and if she's not in my room she'll attack maintenance. Yeah, awesome I know, but we're working on that.

This is my absolute favorite protein shake right now and it's absolutely delicious. The bottle in the photo is their super huge like keep in your fridge at home bottle, but I tried it out after my run on Saturday and I didn't feel as terrible as I normally do after my workouts. I'm going to test it out after my workouts every day this week and see how I like it.

On another note, this term I am going to take a photo of my bedroom every day of the term to show the process of how my room goes from spotless to insanely messy. I think it'll be interesting to see how it changes as I get busier as the term goes on.

Don't forget to let me know what prizes you want to see in June!

Until next time,
